people live(d) here (2021), analog photography, shot with a Linhoff Master Technika and Fomapan 100, 4x5 inch film

Every living space tells its own story. Every person who has lived there leaves something behind. So if a flat has lived through several generations and several constellations of residents, you can recognise the imprint of each individual there. The work ‘people live(d) here’ deals with the two residents of a shared flat in the centre of Munich. They were portrayed in their personal rooms as well as in the communal area - the kitchen - and the series was photographed with a view camera on 4x5 inch negatives. The black and white images were shot on fomapan 100, the colour images on Kodak portra 160 and printed by hand. The changes over the decades in which people have already lived there can be seen in the fact that hardly anything has changed in the interior. The seating area in the kitchen has been there for over 30 years, for example, under the current aubergine colour was still light blue peasant painting at that time. Gas heaters from the 70s sometimes go on, sometimes off.The rattling of the tram outside is noticeable through the clinking of glasses in the cupboard inside.Broken tiles tell of dropped objects and a million steps on them. The stucco on the ceilings is not real, we found that out at some point. The sun shines into the kitchen in the morning.
